Day 1: Arrival –Yerevan city tour
Arrival at Zvartnots airport. Transfer, early check in at the hotel. Rest.
Breakfast at the hotel in the morning. Then City tour around Yerevan. Visit History Museum, Genocide Museum.Yerevan is one of the oldest cities in the world. The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by king Argishti I at the western extreme of the Ararat plain. Erebuni was "designed as a great administrative and religious centre, a fully royal capital." After World War I, Yerevan became the capital of the First Republic of Armenia as thousands of survivors of the Armenian Genocide settled in the area. Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 2: Matendaran-Garni-Geghard – Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Visiting to The Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) , which is a depository of ancient manuscripts, research institute. It holds one of the world's richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books which span a broad range of subjects, including history, philosophy, medicine, literature, art history and cosmography in Armenian and many other languages. Then visiting to Garni Temple, which is a first century Hellenic temple. It is the only pagan temple in Armenia that survived the Christianization of the country in 301 AD. After Garni you will see another beauty of Armenian architecture. Monastery of Geghard is a unique architectural construction, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 3: Yerevan - Etchmiadzin – Zvartnots –Vernisage
After breakfast at the hotel departure to Echmiadzin which is mere 20 km from Yerevan. On the way visit to St Hripsime church which is considered to be one of the 7 wonders of Armenia. Return to Yerevan with stop at the ruins of Zvartnots temple - the pearl of the 7th c. architecture which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage. Return back to Yerevan. Vernissage which is an open-air exhibition-market functioning on the weekends. It was formed during the 1980s by Armenian artists. In Vernissage you can also find carved wood and art works, traditional carpets, old collections of coins and medallions, books, jewelry, musical instruments, electronics and even pets are found in the market.
Day 4: Yerevan - Khor Virap – Areni – Noravank – Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Visiting to Khor-Virap monastery the importance of which is connected with Gregory the Illuminator, who introduced Christianity to Armenia and is considered to be the first Armenian Catholicos. Then tour to Noravank monastery - a great religious and cultural centre of 12th c. On the way visit Areni wine factory to taste local wine. Back to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 5: Yerevan-Sanahin-Haghpat-Odzun-Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel starting explore the beauty of Lori province. You will see Sanahin and Hagpat monasteries. Both are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage. Then you will see another architectural masterpiece, Odzun church, which dates as an early medieval church (5-7th centauries).
Day 6: Yerevan - Ashtarak – Saghmosavank Amberd Fortress-Armenian Alphabet Monument- Yerevan
After breakfast at the hotel starting tour to the church of Karmravour which is one of the smallest pan-Armenian churches. Continue to Saghmossavank medieval monastery, situated in the breathtaking site, at the deep canyon of Ashtarak. Tour to Fortress of Amberd (9th century), stands halfway up Mt. Aragats, at the height of 2300m. Drive back to Yerevan and stay at the Armenian Alphabet Monument.
Day 7: Yerevan-Tsakhadzor-Sevan-Haghartsin-Goshavanq-Yerevan
Departure from Yerevan to Tsakhadzor-ski resort of Armenia. Tsaghkadzor means valley of flowers in Armenian. The city is located 50 kilometers north of Yerevan. Then visit to Kecharis, which is a 11-13th-century monastery, located 60 km from Yerevan. After Kecharis continue tour to Lake Sevan which is the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. It is one of the largest fresh-water high-altitude lakes in the world. Visiting to the Sevanavank . The next is Dilijan, which is one important resorts of Armenia. Visiting to Haghartsin(13th century). Continue tour to the beautiful monastery of Goshavank (12-13th century) The monastery of Haghartsin, together with that of Goshavank, may become part of a natural site based on the state protected area of Dilijan National Park, an important forest in north-eastern Armenia.
Day 8: Departure!
Transfer to the airport and departure.
